US to Toulouse, connecting through Gatwick - how much connection time?

Now looking at options for a September trip, and Gatwick (which I have been to, but never connected through) as the best change point. Connections (with a change of airline) show either a 90 minute connection time, or else 3-4 hours. The former seems very tight to me, and the latter much safer. Any disagreement?

I've connected through Heathrow (BA) to Toulouse several times. As both flights were BA, was not concerned about connection time but I think it was 2-3 hours.

About Gatwick, I've only flown in and out of there to Toulouse on Easyjet, it was a verrrry long walk to the gate. Are you staying on the same airline or booking both segments on one ticket? If so, I would not worry about 90 minutes to connect. If separate tickets, it is cutting it very close. If you're considering Easyjet, I believe it has no interline agreements.

There are usually good deals connecting through Amsterdam, my sister always preferred that when coming to visit us. You might want to check those.

I did JFK > AMS > TLS using one ticket on KLM. Had a 60 minute layover in AMS and both my luggage and I arrived at the same time in TLS.

Assuming these are un-linked bookings. If it is easyJet or another budget airline the 90 minutes connection is likely inadequate even if you land on time.

The longer connection is totally safe . . . if you land on time. But if you are delayed you are not protected.

Can't you find a routing that includes Toulouse?

I see you live in "central Florida". Using Miami as a guess, you can fly Delta or Air France through Paris Charles de Gaulle to Toulouse for maybe $160 more than a Paris round-trip. It's still an $1100-$1200 US ticket in September, but using one ticket for both legs offers security and convenience.
Better than that, the Portuguese airline TAP flies to Toulouse through Lisbon for around $900.
These figures are for September and taken from www.itasoftware.com, a Google company that provides information to airlines and does not sell tickets.
The prices I quoted are round trip. Going home from a different city could be more efficient. Use a multi-city search to find the alternatives.
