US to Greece Flights?

I will also post this on airlines, but I am having a great deal of trouble finding direct, non stop flights from the US to Athens Greece.

Does anyone know who flies such a route? I tried ITAsoftware and found no available flights in January. I could use some help. Thanks.

Where are you flying from? There are direct flights from NYC to Athens on Olympic Airlines.

Two are flying from LA, and two from Pittsburgh. Itasoftware didn't show any direct flights!

You can't expect nonstop flights, if that's what you mean, from those cities to Athens. There isn't the demand for them. I used to live in LA, and had to stop twice on the way to Athens, but you can get flights with only one stop.

I think the only nonstop flights to Athens are from NYC and Atlanta, maybe also Newark on Continental. But Delta doesn't do those flights in winter, I think.

That's what I'm finding: no nonstops in winter.

I can probably arrange for everyone to meet in NY at JFK. Right now Olympic seems to have good (enough) fares for what appear to be non stops.

tuscanlifeedit,

I think nonstop flights to Athens only run on certain days of the week in the winter. For instance, I just went to the DELTA website, tried January 9th with a return on January 16th, and found nonstop service available. This is out of JFK.
Continental flies from Newark to Athens in the summer months. I'm not sure what their winter schedule is.

If you can, I'd avoid OLYMPIC. There is very limited (try none at times!) customer service, planes tend to be older and not well-maintained. Also very limited on-board amenities, if that matters to you. On the other hand, it's often the cheapest flight to Athens from the East coast.

In 2007 I flew from Atlanta to Athens on Delta in June.

Just double-checked with husband who often flies to Athens from JFK in the winter months, and he says that unless Delta and Continental have totally changed their schedules, there have typically been at least two nonstop flights per week.

When he hasn't been able to book those, he's flown through CDG (Paris) with Air France, then connected through to Athens.

<Right now Olympic seems to have good (enough) fares for what appear to be non stops.>

When we wanted to go from JFK to Athens a few years ago, we did not take Olympic because of some rumbling about service. I don't know if they have improved since.

To find the direct flights from any airport, go to: http://tinyurl.com/6oqszf

A quick search of kayak.com shows that Olympic, Air France, and Delta go non-stop from JFK to ATH.

US Air has direct flights to Athens from Philadelphia, although maybe seasonal.
