Tuscany Vineyard Visits

My husband and I will be visiting the Chianti area for three days and the Montapulcino area for three days in late October. We would like to visit a few vineyards on our own in each area. I know that I need to make reservations at most but wanted to see if anyone has recommendations for either area on winery visits they would recommend.

When you're in Montepulciano, Castello Banfi, near Montalcino, would be a nice place to visit. Just google them to get information & directions. You can also make reservations for their lunch w/wine, and to tour the winery. They have a great wine tasting room/gift shop to buy wine & souvenirs.

I would highly recommend visiting the Verrazzano Vineyard in Greve. I just returned from Tuscany and the visit great. I took the "Wine and Food Experience" tour which consisted of a guided tour of the winery followed by a fabulous Tuscan lunch-- there had to be six courses all paired with wine! They require recommendations and offer the tours monday-friday. The tour starts at 11am and you'll get out by 4pm. To make a reservation, email Gino: [email protected] The cost of the tour was 38 Euros per person... and you will not be disappointed. Their website is: www.verrazzano.com
