Tripadvisor just sent me a large-ish canvas bag!

I've seen posts from time to time about items various people have received from Fodors or Tripadvisor...but I was never one of the lucky ones. Last week things changed for me! I received a good sized canvas bag with green shoulder straps and the Tripadvisor logo embroidered on the side. I guess I finally wrote enough reviews to get something really good! Thanks Tripadvisor!!!

I received an email today telling me I now qualified for one of these and asking where I wanted it posted to.
I have written 50 reviews.

I think it depends on your geographical area as to when gifts get offered.I used to be a DE on TA but told them to stuff that a while ago,got quite a few gifts from them including a jacket and a backpack.I used to have over 120 reviews but removed them all as their review system is pretty corrupt.
never had a gift off them for writing reviews and never would want one.
Apart from the forums I would not trust a thing on TA and even the forums are a bit dubious with folk trying to recommend their own or friends buisnesses.

I strongly agree with unclegus. I am a huge fan and participant on the Trip Advisor destination *FORUMS* section. The hotel and restaurant reviews... not so much because the entire 'rating' system is bogus. Sometimes I'll post reviews to tell about my experiences, but rarely do I read or use them for my own research.

I got one a few months ago and I love it! It's huge and closes with a zipper. I've written over 50 reviews, maybe over 100. I'm so glad for those who've gotten one, too!

Fodors gives you a free book if you're quoted in one. Better than a bag for me.

Is Fodor's still doing that? I have a dozen guidebooks that way, but nothing recently.

Fodors gives guidebooks - and tote bags and toiletry bags and leather luggage tags at GTGs. TripAdvisor gives backpacks and canvas tote bags and luggage tags.

They're all good.
