I usually plan to spend $100 per day for my hotel room, and I generally have to do some searching to come up with that price. It seems to me that hotel rooms in Barcelona are a bit more expensive than in Madrid. I think food is a little expensive in Spain, and I don't eat fancy stuff. Even fast food seems expensive to me.

I suggest that you get a guidebook and check out the information on sight-seeing and transportation.

Look at booking.com/barcelona and you will find a hotel price to your liking.

You can spend almost any amount within reason. I fyou are willing to do a hostel you can probably get something decent for less a $100 - or spend $500 if you want an upscale hotel.

Food is the same - depends on where and how much you eat. You should be aware that soft drinks and hard liquor are typically very expensive (2 or 3 times as much as the US). Stick to wine, beer or bottled water (larger bottles from markets) for lower costs.

Are March 2 and 11 travel days to/from Spain or will you actually be on the ground in Spain on those days? Makes a difference in allotting your time while in Spain. You can trim food costs by eating ready-made sandwiches from the supermarket and/or the train station for some meals. Do you have your transportation costs between Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia already factored in? Those could be significant. Also, you will lose time traveling between those cities so look at that too in planning your trip. Do go to a library or bookstore and browse some travel guides for more specific information.
