We are planning to visit Paris, Geneva, Milan, Venice, Florence, Pisa, and Rome in 7 days. We are from California, USA. We are landing in Paris and flying back from Rome to USA.
Should we rent a car or go by train from city to city. What are the advantages and disadvantages of car rental and storage of luggage . We are family of 4. What is better car rental or by train?

'Paris, Geneva, Milan, Venice, Florence, Pisa, and Rome in 7 days ...'
Wha...?
Tell me this ain't true.
"in 7 days" Do you mean 7 days from now, or within 7 days time frame, you will be traveling to all those places? If within 7 days time frame, we all know you are just having fun here. Perhaps you are real and have 7 weeks rather than 7 days, or just left out a number, so you actually have 17 or 27 days.
If you are serious, you absolutely must take a video camera.
ok what is the best way to go from paris to geneva or milan
car or train
Plane actually. There's plenty of low cost airlines in Europe it's cheaper to fly by plane between countries there than it is to drive (gas) or by train. Plus it's faster
I would take the train but I don't see the point of visiting 7 cities in 7 days.
I do hope you'll reconsider. If you have 7 days you should just see Paris. With your list, you'll see the inside of airports, train stations and trains. I like road trips at home, but this won't be fun or even an adventure.
Train.
Magic carpet.
Best way: Stay in Paris. Do day trips to Versailles, and other reasonably close places.
Or: Fly into Paris, spend three days. Fly to Rome, spend three & 1/2 days.
Or: Fly into Venice. Spend three days. Train to Rome. Spend three & 1/2 days.
Impossible with a rented vehicle, unlikely by train, and no fun at all by plane. I agree with others that you should plan on one city, such as Paris, (or Rome, or Venice) and do day trips outside the city. We have driven from Paris to Provence for instance and never do it in under two days, too much to see. Rome to Florence, a full day or two, so many towns and villages to visit. Why punish the family.
lisa, please tell us how many actual days on the ground in Europe you will have.
Helicopter.
7 cities in 7 days is utter madness and a major waste of money, as you won't see anything but the interiors of trains or planes or automobiles.
Horrible idea, and it's actually probably close to impossible, no matter what form of transport you choose.
