There are frequent trains from city centre to city centre. Only a few £ but it depends on type of ticket (day return, advance purchase, one-way, etc)

There are fast buses to Edinburgh from outside Glasgow airport, cross the road & you'll find stances, the times are posted inside the shelters (or from the Citylink website!), I think they're every 1-1/2 hours.
To get a train (more frequent) you should get a taxi to Glasgow Queen Steet station, better to call 01418895511 for a local cab rather than use the airport cabs, their pickup point is at the leftmost stance (as you emerge from the airport) along from the bus stances.
(or get the shuttle bus to Paisley Gilmour St. station, train to Glasgow Central then walk to 5 mins to Queen St..too long?)
Glasgow airport is about 15 mins drive from Glasgow Queen St, should be about £10.

The bus from Glasgow's Buchanan Bus
Station to Edinburgh (a few steps from the Waverly train station) costs 3 pounds (one way). We paid the driver directly; no need for an advance ticket. There were a few brief stops along the way. Our 6:30 am trip on Sunday morning took about one hour, ten minutes.

There is a walk on train service, which I think has just been increased to a 15 minute frequency, certainly no less than twice an hour

train every 15 minutes - usually on time, takes about 50 minutes. Best way to go.

I did this commute every day for what seemed an eternity. The train is easy and normally quick. But my favorite station announcement of all time was frequently heard on the speaker at Queen Street: "British Rail apologizes for the late arrival of your train. This was due to its running behind schedule."
