Train Madrid-Granada-Seville?

Hi,

Does anyone know when usually Renfe starts selling train tickets from Madrid to Granada and Granada to Seville?

For example I've typed Madrid to Granada on 11/04/2015 and got message which translates "The consulted train is not available for sale right now. Please try again later and sorry for the inconvenience."

It's only ~2 weeks till 11/04 and no tickets,I though you can buy up to 60 days ahead?

There is disruption to the rail network in the Granada area which starts on the 7th April.
There is 'news' of sorts on several forums especially Tripadvisor Spain/Granada forum but, in essence I think, not much more than I have said. You may want to start thinking of taking the ALSA bus.

Yes, buy the bus tickets through ALSA; there are many tickets available on 11/4 (or 4/11 for those of us across the Atlantic!).

Thank you WomBatt, so it means there will be no trains from Madrid to Granada and Granada to Seville at all for a summer period?

'so it means there will be no trains from Madrid to Granada and Granada to Seville at all for a summer period?' - sigh. I believe no one has any idea, not even RENFE officials even at this late stage. If a journey appears on-line an alternative routing will have been made, but no-one should bank on anything.

The London based railway ticket seller LOCO2 https://loco2.com advised its web customers about 3 weeks ago the following:

'Granada to Antequera engineering works

We have been informed that engineering works are scheduled to take place on the line between Granada and Antequera and that the works are expected to last all year.

The Spanish rail operator Renfe advised that some services may run on a revised schedule and that those services are expected to be open for sale about 30 to 35 day's before departure. Unfortunately, we can't offer a guarantee and we recommend considering an alternative route.'

We will update this article with any further information as we receive it.

Thank you WomBatt, as much as I love trains and was looking forward them in Spain looks like bus in the way to go. We still be using train from Seville to Barcelona so not all is lost

I'm amazed that Renfe can't clearly put a message on their website about something like this, especially before the busy tourist season!

I don't know what's happening on the Granada-Madrid line, but one day soon you be able to take the "alta velocidad" Talgo from Medina to Mecca on the HARAMAIN HIGH SPEED RAILWAY Renfe is involved in.

Just checked Renfe. The spring schedule up for the Madrid-Granada, Granada-Madrid, Granada-Sevilla and Sevilla-Granada trains. It looks like a full schedule in April.

My mistake! This is from Renfe.com just now! Only the AVE-MD and LD-MD train connections are listed as operational. Everything else has been replaced by a bus.

Origen: MADRID (*) Destino: GRANADA
Trenes para el día: Lunes 27 Abril 2015
99249 AVE-MD 11.35 16.10 4 h. 35 min.
99282 LD-MD 15.05 19.45 4 h. 40 min.

The MD is running between Granada and Sevilla on May 5.

For me it shows "requested train is not available at the moment" from Granada to Sevilla on May 5 or any other day.

But it sounds like trains from Madrid to Cordoba would not be affected. Is that a reasonable assumption?

Looks like train tickets are on sale for May now, but very limited choices because of rail works.
For example:

Madrid-Granada: AVE-MD, so need to change trains, €50, only 11:34 AM and 15:05PM
Granada-Seville: €30, but only 08:43 AM and 17:32 PM

Bus tickets Granada-Seville you can buy from €5 on supra bus, very cheap!
Bus Madrid-Granada doesn't have super cheap option, but still cheaper for €41 on premium bus, or if money is an issue than normal bus for €18.

As much as I like trains looks like buses in this case are better choice, don't need change trains from Madrid-Granada, more times available and super cheap from Granada to Seville.

buses are often a better option in Spain, that isn't true in some other countries (like France).
