Toledo Day trip -
I had been watching the RENFE site for train fares from Madrid to Toledo as well as a number of others when I noticed that they were all gone in the blink of an eye on the day I required (3rd September 2012). Sooo disappointed and annoyed with myself as I did not realise that there would be such a demand all at once!
So I have been researching alternatives: Bus (travel time is much longer) and via organised tours such as Julia Travel - a full day is about 75 euros per person but feedback is mixed in regards to the multiple translations on the bus. There are the usual positives and negatives of organised tours.
Can anybody suggest or give me feedback in regards to these and other alternatives?

Do not fret. there will be plenty of trains. they must be readjusting the fares. The fares, if recall are always about 10-11 euros each way to Toledo. Check back in a month or so or 60 days before your trip.

Thanks Guys you have helped me decide to not take up the organised tour since there will be more trains and buses as we prefer that type of travel as you can then spend the time you want rather than being herded! Great article LaurenAloise.

I've been to Toledo by bus, rail and car.
My preference is rail. I really don't think you need an organized tour of Toledo, a simple tour guide such as Fodor's will be fine.
If you head to Segovia, go to El Escorial, by all means.
