The hippest, trendiest restaurant in Paris right now is..
Hi all!
Even though I am in Paris practically every year, last year we had to skip it but will be there again on our way back from Croatia this summer in July.
Since I have not paid any attention to the latest and greatest ( been busy planning trips to places I have not been to)on the Paris scene, I wanted to know what is the latest hippest restaurant in town.
Our friends who we spend time with in Paris are more traditionalists and thus also do not pay any real attention to the latest. We'll have some time away from them and DH and I love new places. A pretty recent issue of T+L had some offerings, but I wanted all of you good people to chime in.
We eat everything, we love dressing up! Price no object. Location no object.

Not flashy but one of the best rate in Paris now :
- Le Comptoir du Relais 9 carrefour de l'Odeon Paris 6 - around 50€ - Book, book, book, it's full !
Modern, upmarket, creative :
- L'Astrance, 4 rue Beethoven, Paris 16 - From 80 to 130€ - Book 2 to 3 weeks in advance

That's funny. Based on what I've read, these would be my top two picks, benjinho.
I've seen many mentions or Le Comptoir (including a recent article in NYT). L'Astrance now has two ** under its belt. However it's been open since 2000 or 2002 (?).
I've not eaten at either.

I have just returned from a weekend in Paris. Everyone is talking about Senderens (http://www.bestrestaurantsparis.com/...p?id_resto=474), formerly the Three-Star Michelin "Lucas Carton".
111op brought it to my attention (thank you Sir) and I had lunch there on Sunday-week. Superb food, wonderful decor at a fraction of the price of the original. Lunch with wine for one was 105 Euros.
My collegues in our Paris office were most impressed that I had dined there!

Glad you enjoyed it, Ger, and welcome back! I'm looking forward to read about the experience (if and when and where you choose to say more).
I spent 69 euros (no wine for me -- I'm a cheapo
, as you may recall) on lunch.

Wow, your link is actually quite current, Ger. I had the homard. It's funny though how the link changed the categories to "starters and entrees." The "real menu" listed "entrees, poissons, viandes."
They don't list the pate in Chinese broth.

Tripgirl, I also ate at L'Ambroisie (3-Star Michelin) for lunch on Saturday. It is reputed to be one of the best restaurants in France. Bring LOTS of money. Lunch for one with 1/2 bottle of wine was (GASP!) 375 Euros (fainting emoticon). Its traditional though, not hip or trendy.

That's scary, Ger! I've been wanting to eat there, but I think that I can forget about it. So far I think that my record is 175 euros for dinner at Le Calandre (near Padova), but with cab fares to and from the restaurant, I probably spent a little over 200 euros. That's my claim to a *** dinner.
Some day. Maybe you can take me to L'Ambroisie next time, Ger.
