TGV to Avignon from CDG?

We've found that the TGV travels to Avignon from Charles DeGaulle Airport or from Paris. We want to go direct from our flight to Avignon where we'll pick up a rental car, but can't find from where in CDG the train leaves or how much time to allow to get there after arriving at airport on international flight. We'll appreciate any advice, since we hate to take the time to travel into Paris and then get on the train but if it's better to do so, we'll build the time into schedule.

There is no need to go into the city to get your train.

The TGV station is easy to find. You can see a map of the airport terminals which will help you at
www.aeroport.fr
(click on "les aeroports" or "Decouvrez votre aeroport" - then choose Paris Roissy and click.) I believe they may have the site in English, but I haven't checked lately.

PB
Charles DeGaulle Aiport (Roissy) is actually 3 airports in one! If you arrive at Terminal 2, it is not hard to find the CDG station. If you arrive at Termimal 1 or Terminal 9, then you will need to take a shuttle bus to the station. I have not landed at other than T2, Hall C, so I don't know the ins and outs of getting to the TGV station.

I have a map of CDG in .gif file format I can sent you if you would like it. Email me at my address above and let me know. I can send it as an attachment. I would tell you where to find the .gif file on the web, but I cannot locate it again!! I downloaded a copy a while back and still have it.
Trains leave CDG for Avignon at 10:11, 11:24, 13:11, 14:04, 16:04 and 17:04.
The one way fare for an undiscounted first class ticket is 102.45 euros, which is about $91 at the current exchange rate.
You might want to go ahead and make a reservation about 3 days before you leave to make sure that you have a seat.
Of course a lot depends on your flight being on time and the terminal at which you land.
I did exactly the same thing! and had no trouble getting the traing to Avignon (which we used as a base to explore Provence by rental car -- which we picked up right at the Avignon train station). My only advice -- we did not make train reservations and ended up in the smoking car for the trip to Avignon. This was not just an occasional cigarrette. The French smoked continuously and it was very unpleasant. My fault for not planning ahead!

Kathy is not just funnin either. I walked from my seat in a non smoking car to the "bar car" for something to drink. I had to pass through a smoking car to get there. I started in, stepped back, took deep breath, and walked rapidly holding my breath. The haze was like that of a London fog.
