St. John's Navalis feast/festival in Prague
We will be in Prague May 15 when this festival is taking place. I have read a little about it, but wonder if anyone on this forum has experienced it. It sounds pretty great - a flotilla of boats on the river and baroque music. And it's free.
Any other ideas for things to see and do in Prague? We will be there from the 13th to the 22nd of May. Staying in a rented apartment in New Town near the Museum.

I haven't heard of the St. John's Navalis feast, it does sound interesting.. maybe I'll go check it out too
Other than the normal sightseeing, you can do lots of things in Prague. As the weather should be already nice at the end of May, you can walk up to the Petřín tower with mirror maze. There are beautiful views from there. You can also hang out by the river and enjoy the local beer
Btw. there's going to be ice hockey championship till May 17th, so you'll probably experience that too There might be big screens on the Oldtown Square and more people in the streets

these websites should give you loads of info the second one often has discount vouchers and 2 for 1 offers.i know the guy that runs it and we usually meet for a meal or drinks when we are both in the city , his info is great.
There may be a small beer /food festival on the banks of the Vlatava, just trying to find the right dates for this and will post when i get the info.

unclegus - Thanks for the links. The beer festival sounds great. It doesn't look at all as if we will not have plenty to see and do while we are there.
From what I have read about the Navalis feast and celebration, it is something that they are trying to get off the ground after not having been much attention to for awhile.
We also want to go to Terezin camp for a day - thinking we can do this on our own by bus or train. Have you any suggestions regarding this as a day trip?

yeah Terezin is real easy by bus. takes about an hour from Holesovice bus station , just take the metro there and the bus station is about a minutes walk from the metro ,all very obviousvbus stops about 100m yards from the main area but if you miss that then the next stop is right outside the main museum. Terezin is spread over a large area so you need to be prepared to walk between the various sight some of which will take 15 -20 minutes or so to walk ie from the main fortress to the Crematorium. I was last there in november last year. I will be in Prague the same time as you staying in the Dejvicka area but ti will be at the hockey finals with friends but if you fancy meeting one night for a meal just let me know.
I might head down to the Navalis festival with my friends if we are not at the hockey

Unclegus - Again I want to thank you for the link to livingprague --- I sent an email to Jason with a question and he has already answered it. He does have a really good website, and I probably wouldn't have found it without your pointing the way. So much practical info and insights.
Also - I looked at your Prague trip report - sounds as if you know your way around the city pretty well.
Yes, it would be nice to meet up for a meal or some beers. As we get closer to the May dates, let's consider that!

I have been visiting prague for over 20 years and since the introduction of low cost carriers from my local airport have been visiting at least twice a year since 2002. jason and I have been friends for years , we last met up in November where we actually went for a lunch in a Thai resturaunt.
I am more active on the Trip Advisor Prague forum and you can see my numerous reviews on Prague pubs and resturaunts there.Keep in contact.i usually try to arrange a meet up on the TA forum.
