Special Dinner in Barcelona
We are taking our kids, 16 & 19 to Barcelona and Madrid. We are looking for a restaurant in Barcelona for the night of December 27, which is a wednesday. It is our 25th anniversary, and there is really no one we would rather share it with than our kids, both of whom are adventurous eaters. We would love something unique to Spain, maybe specifically Catalan, that would be memorable to all. Don't really want "fussy" or too dressed up. But willing to spend some money. 25 years is worth celebrating!
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Just returned last week from Barcelona Prague and London. Barcelona was fantastic. One of my favorite meals was at 7 Portes. The Paella is the best. We got Maribels Guide to Barcelona online and it was very helpful. The Fat tire bike ride was a highlight of the trip.

Thanks for the replies so far. I can get Hoffman's website, just not in English. It won't "click" on the English translation page. It does look fabulous.
Any other ideas or suggestions?

My husband and I had dinner one nite at 7 Portes - we really did not care for it - IMO it was a bit expensive and we did not care for the attitudes of the staff - maybe we just hit a bad nite. I think Maribels Guide lists an Asador - place with the traditional roast meats - usually pig or lamb. Something like that might be good if you don't eat at one in Madrid. Roast suckling pig is delicious - I was reluctant to try it until a Spanish host just insisted on ordering it, but it really is wonderful and very hard to find here in the States. Have a great trip!

We enjoyed our dinner at Casa Calvet. The food is Catalan (I recall having oxtails, but my husband who is a bit less adventuresome undoubtedly had something less exotic) and very good. the decor is lovely and the building was designed by Guadi himself. Casp 48, 93 412 40 12
