spain 16 days arriving in Madrid flying out of Barcelona

Having 16 Days to Tour the country arriving August 10 Madrid and flying home from Barcelona August 26. What would you suggest our itinerary be? We can use any form of transportation, car, plane, train or etc.. We were thinking, but unsure how to proceed: Madrid 4 days, Sevilla 2-3days , San Sebastian ?days and Barcelona 5 days. maybe adding Biarritz and Cordoba but we do love the beaches what would the best day trips from sevilla or san sebastian
Please advise
Thank you

Rent a car. Pick up in Madrid and drop off in Barcelona.

Kayak shows me $440 with hertz with a mAD pick-up and BCN drop-off.

Córdoba to Madrid is close to four hours.

As far as "what to see", the Michelin guide for Spain is quite good.

Be aware of the intense heat! You will find yourselves slowing down in it-drink pleny of water!
It will be a little cooler in SS but Andalucia is horrendous.
The AVE is wonderful just to relax and be out of the heat!Driving will eat up too much time.It is the high season in SS so be prepared to pay top prices if you can find a place to stay! It's easy to use public transportation from SS.I love Hondarribia. In SS parking is just about impossible!
