SIXT car rental uk
I would like to rent a minivan with Sixt. there will be 8 of us. After browsing through the sixt website, i'm deciding to book the VW shuttle auto at the price of less than 300 British pound. I would really appreciate your reviews on this company before making the booking.

I had a recent experience with Sixt Rental while I was in Paris. I rented a car and realized right away that I had selected the wrong date for the rental; I wanted to rent the car one day earlier. I called customer service within 30 minutes of making the rental online. The agent said that no cars were available on the day that I wanted to rent the car. I asked if I could cancel it and he said that I could so I did. I got charged a cancellation fee and when I disputed it was told "too bad".
I used Hertz that was a bit more expensive but at least reliable.

welcome to Fodors Marjorie1. Now that you are done kvetching about sixt, maybe tell us what you enjoyed about your trip. (or be like mslilyy the OP and post a hit and run and never return)
Not quite sure what was 'unreliable' about Sixt -- They didn't book the wrong date. How much was the cancellation fee, and are the cancellation rules spelled out on your booking? If there are penalties to cancel, then you owe them if you end up canceling.

To Marjoire. If you agreed to the paperwork and the T&Cs why say that Sixt were not reliable. It was you who booked and found you wanted to change. Companies no matter how large or small are not there for you to mess around and change plans. If you do not like the T&Cs then never use that company be it your bank, car hire or your local taxi man.

Sixt is a large, München-based, family-owned German Company. Very professional.
In fact, we had rented the same VW Multivan from Sixt in England. We got a nice brand new car and enjoyed it very much during our 10-day trip through South England.
However, I caused a pretty long scratch on the side of the car. When returning the car, they charged me 120 lbs for the damage. I found that very reasonable. (My inscurance covered that, so I did not buy extra insurance from Sixt.)

We use Sixt all the time when in Europe. Very easy to work with and a nice variety of cars at all the locations where we picked them up or dropped them off: Rome, Paris, York, Edinburgh, Dublin, Dusseldorf and Munich. My only complaint to them was that their drop off sites, often in a parking garage, do not have great signage. The manager in York said he would pass on my suggestion.
