Rome N. of Borghese Gardens, Hotel Rivoli, too far?

My husband, adult daughter and I will need a triple room in Rome and are choosing between the Best Western Rivoli n. of Borghese Gardens and Hotel Miami near Termini Station on Via Nationale. Comments? Want to pay in 150 dollar range or less. Open for recommendations elsewhere, perhaps better location. Would really appreciate names of hotels you have enjoyed that are not exhorbitantly expensive. Thanks!

Good afternoon, Mccarter
The Hotel Rivoli is located on the Via
Taramelli, which is located north of
the Borghese Gardens just off the Viale
Bruno Buozzi, which is a fairly large
throughfare.. It located about two
blocks from one of our favorite ristorantes in Rome and that is the
AMBASCIATA D ABRUZZO, ViaPietro
Tacchini, 26.. $$$ resvn a must.
excellant Abruzzo cooking, lot of
locals and tourists.... The area
is apartments, hotels and ristorantes
not a lot a shops but a neiborhood few.
The Miami near the Termini, the area
is hotels, shops and I feel much more
congested and still not with in walking
distance of the areas of the Corso
and the Spanish Steps.
We have used the HOTEL CONTINENTAL on
the via Sistina for many years, it is
a 3 star hotel with 37 rooms, street
side rooms can be noisy at night.
It is located atop of the Spanish Steps
and in good walking distance to the Via
Veneto, Corso, Pza Navona, Trevi, however would take a taxi to the
Vatican and walk back.....
Richard of Hickory Hills, IL....

We have reservations at the Hotel Rivoli for the end of November, and would love to hear comments from anyone who has stayed there. The brochure looks great and the price of $105 per night is wonderful. Thanks in advance Betty

Really neither is an overly satisfactory location. There are many other choices in better locations in the same price range.

See http://twenj.com/romechoice.htm for some extended thoughts on the importance of location in Rome ... and you'll find from there some links to hotel suggestions.

m-

Just got back from Rome. Stayed at the Hotel Locarno which is right off of the Piazza del Popolo (via del Penna)and found the location as well as the hotel, its staff to be fantastic. I spent about $108 for a single--check with them on availability for a triple or a double with added bed--I walked everywhere from here including the Villa Borghese. Good luck and enjoy your trip.
