Rome Hotel Recomendations

I tried to book the suite at the britannia in rome based on the recomendations from this site. I cant get it for all 4 nights and I'm wondering what recomendations you folks might have for a nice size room in a quiet central location with good air conditioning and shower since we'll be there in August.

thx

Actually just posted this for someone else. I stayed at a fabulous little hotel called: Romantik Hotel Barocco, Piazza Barberini 9, 39-06-48-72-001 phone (can find more if you do a search on the web). It had been recommended to me from someone who lives in Rome. I'm not sure what your price range is, but it should certainly fulfill all your requirements (nice, quiet, comfortable and VERY near Spanish Steps). The staff was wonderful, the rooms terrific and the price included an amazing buffet breakfast. Buon Viaggio!
Hello Barbara,
Based on your criteria I'd have to say where I stayed in April fits the bill. The Intercontinental de la Ville is at the top of the Spanish Steps, next to the Hassler. Our room was very large (we upgraded using their Business special) the a/c, shower and bath amenities were excellent. Mind you, after walking up the Spanish Steps im Aug. one needs excellent a/c and a shower. The many paned windows do a great job of keeping the street noise out and the beds are very comfortable. It's a good value only if you can get the special... check their website for details, we paid us$250.00 a nite. Hope this helps.
A.M.

Has anyone stayed at the Sheraton Roma or the Hotel Valadier?
