Review of the Jhieronimus Bosch ehibition

Not mine, I go on Monday, but one from the Guardian to keep you going until then.

Mine won't be nearly as well written, but I'll add it to this thread .

Looks wonderful. Many years ago the Prado used to sell reprints, but they were on cloth, not paper, to more closely emulate a real oil, including The Garden of Earthy Delights.

I am so stoked to have this exhibit in our itinerary! I've chased his paintings all over the world and am highly excited with anticipation to see the collection.

Thanks for the review and we look forward to news of the town's activities as well.

Really annoying. It looks brilliant. But I won't get to Europe until June this year...
I don't suppose it is travelling to anywhere else afterwards?

It will be at the Prado, Madrid, from May 31 to Sept. 11.

heti, have you looked at the Biddendieze canal tours? I think we'll do that one of the evenings we're there. I think the projections of H. Bosch's work on the "hell hole" canal sounds fascinating.

StCirq, no we will be going only for the exhibition. Den Bosch is about an hour by car, and we have to get back to walk the dog before it gets dark.

I would love to spend more time there, but the old, nearly blind dog has to take priority.

Will report in on Monday evening.

I really wish I could see this, but our travel plans for this year are set in stone.

When we lived in the Netherlands, my youngest daughter (10 at the time) became a great fan of Bosch. We also visited the Prado when were in Madrid that year, and she saw some more of his work.

Bookmarking. Looking forward to hearing about your visits, heti and StCirq. Add me to the list of those who saw it at Prado. My jaw is still on the floor.

Yikes, that was supposed to be Binnendieze! At any rate the special HB canal tours don't start until April and we're there March 24 and 25

I believe this will be the first The Garden of Earthly Delights will have left Spain since the 17th Century.

"I believe this will be the first The Garden of Earthly Delights will have left Spain since the 17th Century."

It hasn't. They are displaying a 16th century copy. Have to go to Madrid to see the original in the exhibit.

I have seen it in Madrid several times...( always crowded)
Right next to The Garden is another masterpiece:
The Triumph of Death by Pieter Bruegel the Elder painted c. 1562.
