Hello I work countless hours in my corprate job all day long in front of a computer. So I am going on vacation with a couple of college friends and we are 25. So of corse we want to drive on the worlds fastest Highway. . . . But finding the CAR. . . 600-1000 per week. What were looking for is a AUDI A8 or a 8 E430 or something that can break the sound barier. Please help.

There are a number of mid-sized 2-liter cars that will can do 200 kph - - maybe even more - - you will still get your doors blown off by the big MB and BMW 7xx's doing 240-plus, but, maybe until you can afford more, you can still drive really fast - - compared to anything you are used to. <BR> <BR>I love driving in Europe, and I do have a number of suggestions: <BR> <BR>1. Do not, of course, equate driving fast with driving recklessly. <BR> <BR>2. And not one drop of alcohol, antihistamines, etc. <BR> <BR>3. In fact, above 160 - - and especially above 180, I think that there is little if any place for even conversation in the car. The European drivers that drive really fast are often alone, and pay serious attention to their driving. This truly does require concentration. <BR> <BR>4. And finally, in fact - - give your self at least a day or two, maybe even three to let your eye-hand-foot-brain processing adjust. Nick <BR>Fast Germans can often be seen two inches from your bumber in the fast lane in BMW 5 series. And they are often rated as being THE best car. <BR>While there is no speed limit as such on German Autobahns, there is a recommended limit of 130km per hour and if you had an accident the police would come down harder on you if you were exceeding this. <BR>When there are speed limits for roadworks ect, they are strictly enforced (speed cameras ect) and Germans do tend to adhere to them. <BR>I have an Audi (one of the smaller ones though)they are wonderful cars - A6 is beautiful and fast. A8 is too big it looks more stately than fast.Mercedes E class fast and great quality but also not so attractive. Also too big and not so well styled is the BMW 7 series IMHO, but I guess you are not worried about the looks. Germans may be fast but they are used to it and usually very good drivers. <BR>Angela

As the owner of an Audi A-6, I would highly recomment it, however the A-4 is very nice too (drove one around Denmark last year) and not so pricy, and cheaper on gas. HOwever, hope that you were kidding about driving so fast. THe Audebon in Germany has no speed limit; the drivers are pretty skillful and predictable, but: and here's the important part, when they do have accidents at that speed, they pick up the bits with a stick and a spoon!!

Try www.elite.ch, they have S8s and 911s(among other things). I'm not sure if they are in Germany though, we are renting acar from them in Zurich.

You can rent real fast cars like Porsche or Ferrari, but you can't go the 300 km very often. There are only some "Autobahnen", which are not always crowded. It's true, that you should get used to the German traffic before you rent such a fast car. Many people from the USA, who visited Germany for the first time, told me, that they are afraid to drive here, because of the reckless driving Germans. <BR>Sabine
