Recomendations for Progue

Hi, I am in my planning stages of things to do in Prague, and was wondering if you could make some suggestions and or arrangements for me. My wife and I are staying at the Golden Well Hotel, but there is another couple that will be in Prague during our stay and they all trust me to make the plans that will be highlights of our stay.

We will be staying 29/07-05/08/11

Some of the things we will want to do...

For sure, if there is a match playing while we are there, we must see a football match, preferably of the top division in Prague. Good seats are a must. Are Wednesdays and Saturdays match days?

Live music is also a must. We would love to see classical...but we also love to ROCK, clubs/Festivals/large venues...any will do. I am prepared to buy tickets in advance.

Markets, festivals, cultural events of the season...art, food, wine, or antiques. I looked at a couple of calendars and didn't see anything noted during our stay.

Special art exhibits in museums.

A boat cruise on the river, does not need to be a tourist cruise. If there is something special that includes dinner? A private charter?

Rental car for a day, something sporty, to tour the country side?

Spa treatments, could be unusual...but couples welcome.

Adult entertainment, couples welcome, and safe.

I am the oldest at 50, the rest are in there 40s but we are all very young at heart.

Fitness, running trails...or biking...or hiking

Nature preserves?

I know this is quite a list, but any help you might be would be great. Our friends visited last year, so we wouldn't be completely lost, but it is a first visit for my wife and I, so any insider perspective is greatly appreciated. Please share any internet links that might also help me make some decisions.

Thank you so much, and am really looking forward to our visit.

the city is rather compact and easy to get around.
For something different, visit beautiful part of the city in Prague 2 - Vinohrady. (It goes further than Prague 2, but I am not familiar with those areas).
It is a residential are full of gorgeous buildings ,there is a park and several restaurants.

To get to the heart of Vinohrady, take line A of the metro and get off at Jiřího z Poděbrad. Or, to take a slower ride above ground, get on tram 11 at Muzeum and take it up Vinohradská to Jiřího z Poděbrad.
Or , walk fom the Museum ( about 30 minutes)

for concerts

Municipal House is beautiful , I attended a very good concert there.

I also suggest visiting the Vysehrad area of Prague, where Prague was born. You have to take public transportation there, then walk uphill with nice views of the river. You can visit Sts Peter & Paul Church & the beautiful National Cemetery. We love this part of Prague because it is usually less crowded than Old Town & Castle area, even in the summer.

I think you mean hear classical, not see it, as visually it isn't going to mean much if it's a regular concert. But if you mean opera which is visual (or something else more visual), there are some performance in Prague even during off-season (relatively, compared to other seasons which don't go past June usually). Unfortunately, your dates are usually not very good for performing arts, the season is over for the philharmonic, symphony or ballet.

IN short, there is no classical music concert during that period by the symphony or philharmonic, nor any ballet nor opera. There is some opera excerpts at the Theatre of the Estates during your dates called Best of Mozart or something, and there are some excerpt concerts for tourists at the Spanish Synagogue (meaning the repertoire is easy listening and not particularly related to Prague or CR in any way, ie probalby Vivaldi, Schubert, etc.). The Spanish Synagogue is actually very beautiful and worth seeing, but I wouldn't go there for those concerts.

YOu may find something else just by walking around, unfortunately, there is nothing special going on during your dates where you would need to buy tickets in advance. The Klementinum is closed for renovations, also, and it has some good chamber music occasionally.

You can check with ticket agencies to see if there is anything special you want to see, try www.ticketpro.cz or www.bohemiaticket.cz
