Rathbone Hotel in London is very good!!
I just thought I'd share this with you all...
I stayed recently in London for 3 nights at the Rathbone Hotel. It's in the West End, great location, wonderful neighborhood with LOTS of restaurants and cafes nearby. It was an easy walk to shopping, subway, etc. Nice lobby with tea, coffee and water available throughout the day. The "continental breakfast" was actually a plentiful cold buffet. It is a very comfortable hotel, good customer service, good price (compared to other similar hotels in similar location). I highly recommend this hotel!!

We, too, stayed at the Rathbone and found it terrific. It would be our choice for a repeat visit. Great place. Unfortunately I do not have my notes with me right now to be able to respond to the question about price and tube stop. I do recall that we found it highly reasonable for London, probably means under 200 USD.

I checked the hotel because it was new to me. If you click on special offers, the rates were pretty good (compared to the rack rate). I checked for one weekday night in September. Standard double was 105 GBP exclusive of VAT.

I posted this message about the Rathbone, but I neglected to check back and reply to the inquiries that were made. So sorry! I'll try to answer...
I can't remember the exact price that I paid, but I know it was under 200 GBP for a double room. I did a lot of omparison shopping before booking this hotel, and the price was the best I could find for a similar hotel in a good central location. Check their website for specials, then email the hotel directly to see what the "best" price would be.
The Rathbone is located in Fitzrovia section of London, very convenient to Oxford Street, theater district, Soho. It is surrounded by litle restaurants and cafes, which is great. Eating out in London can be quite expensive, as you probably know. But there were lots of budget choices within 2 blocks of the hotel.
Nearest tube is Tottenham Ct. Rd (corner of Oxford Street). And it's not far to walk to Regent Street, Mayfair, Leicester Square.
There are certainly cheaper hotels in London, especially if you want to stay further outside of the center. But for a very comfortable hotel, nice rooms, great service--and very central!--I highly recommend the Rathbone.

It is a nice hotel and just slightly away from the main road. It is also around the corner from Charlotte Street where there are some good restaurants (for example the one in the Charlotte Street hotel and Da Paolo's in Charlotte Place but keep away from the Greek Cypriot ones-they are dire).

I just made reservations here. I may change them, as Londontown lets you change up to 2 PM the day before arrival, but this looks pretty nice, good location, and a double room for 122 pounds a night all-in. I read they recently renovated the hotel, too.
