Ramadan--what have you experienced

We are considering a self drive car trip on the Aegean Coast of Turkey during Ramadan which starts November 27. If you have travelled in Turkey during this Muslim holy month, are there any concerns or suggestions for tourists?
Thanks

I have been in Turkey during Ramadan recently (with my Turkish husband and his family, all of whom are non-practicing). Anyway - the only thing I saw (actually heard) related to Ramadan was a man walking around the town waking people up before dawn to eat. That only lasted one night - everyone wanted to sleep in.

You are going to the very moderate part of Turkey. You may see more people observing Ramadan in the smaller towns than other places.

I am very non-Turkish looking (blond, blue eyes) and have never expereinced any problems (including during Ramadan). You will be fine - enjoy, the people are incredibly hospitable and friendly.

My only suggestion is to always carry kleenex in your pocket - if you have to stop at a public toilet they don't always provide paper.

My late husband was a professional Santa Claus complete with long white hair and beard and had green eyes. I also had long blondish grey hair with blue eyes. We were really stared at in Istanbul on New Year's Day 1999. There was nothing affected by Ramadan. It was neat being there and learning about it. I'm jealous!
