Provence-Luberon Region How Many Nights and Where to Stay?
We will be touring Provence for 6 nights after visiting Nice and nearby surrounding area for 3 nights. We will be driving, of course, and are interested in wine tasting, lavender fields, olive oil production and Roman ruins/architecture. I am considering a B&B, Les Carmes, just a few minutes out of L'Isle sur la Sorgue for the first 3 nights. I am still deciding about the next 3 nights....Perhaps a recommendation outside of Aix-en-Provence. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have read several posts regarding Provence, but since it is such a vast area, I was hoping for a few pinpointed suggestions. Any favorite villages, vineyards, B&B's. Budget is around 175euro per night. Thanks.

Les Carmes is in a central Provence location so you could stay there for 6 nights. Having said that I can suggest my two favorite B&Bs which could satisfy your desire to stay in two different areas of Provence.
Mas Perreal http://www.masperreal.com/
Mas Laurent http://www.maslaurent.com/en/
Each are located in beautiful settings of vineyards and orchards. You will start out the morning outdoors with a gourmet breakfast and look in all directions and say I am in Provence (Actually Mas Laurent is at the edge of Provence).
Elizabeth and Kevin (Mas Perreal) and Deborah and Tim (Mas Laurent) will treat you like friends, will help you with planning daily activities, choosing restaurants (make reservations for you),and will help make your Provence vacation memorable. Mas Perreal is in walking distance of the non touristy village of St Saturnin-Les-Apt and a 10 min drive to one of the most photographed towns in all Provence, Gordes. Mas Laurent is 2 km from the now discovered beautiful town of Uzes and a few km from one of the Roman wonders of the world,Pont du Gard.3 days at each would be perfect. Or if your heart is set on Les Carmes, choose either Mas for your second B&B.

One other idea... check out http://www.luxurylink.com/5star/hote...capelongue?v=S
It's a great little 'hotel' with a Michelin starred restaurant. The last auction just ended, but another should start shortly. You basically get a great dinner and breakfast each day for little more than the cost of your room. We did it a few years ago and are still trying to lose the weight we put on!
