Priceline-I can't believe it worked for me!

I'm not a Priceline person, but with hotels in Frankfurt soooo expensive during the International Auto Show Expo, I thought I would give it a try. I got the Movenpick 4* for $188.40 for two double rooms. I searched Movenpick's website and the cheapest room available is 319€. Sounds unbelievable..I hope it's okay. Even the 2* Ibis is 179€ per night.

You mean $188 per room, or $188 for BOTH rooms?

That's great. Less than $100 per room per night. I've used priceline twice for Zurich and with taxes & fees, less than $100 per night for a 4*.

Congratulations. You don't have to worry about the currency fluctuation since everything is prepaid in $$$.

I've found quite a few great deals with Priceline in the last couple of years. Just to name a few: Only 2 weeks ago I got the 4* Sheraton LAX for $77 plus tax. Last year I got the 4* Thistle Marble Arch in London for $60 plus tax. Once you get started with Priceline you will be a fan for life. Congrats and welcome to the club.

Yup, sometimes Priceline's incredible. The last time I used it I got 4 nights for 4 of us in a Crowne Plaza hotel in the Bahamas for $1400, airfare included.

I hated the Bahamas, but at that price, who cared?

Congratulations. I love a great score on Priceline. It is so much fun when it happens. You got a heck of a deal.

I thought I was the only one who couldn't fall in love with the Bahamas.

Oh, don't get me started....the Bahamas actually scared me. I mean, I am the world's most eager, mellow, I'll-love-anything traveler. Except when there's absolutely nothing to love or be of interest. I swear I researched the hell out of that destination, and OK, we did have a nice visit to some famous gardens somewhere and some underground waterfall, but oh please....even the beaches were gross...and the food...as I said...don't get me started.

The hotel was nice. The pools at the hotel were nice. It was a really cheap vacation. That was nice.

Congratulations to you all. I have one question can you specify double or twin share on this site?? or do you have to take what they give you.

You cannot make that request w/priceline. But once you win your bid you can call the hotel and make that request.

Priceline will only guarantee a double room with one bed.

Priceline guarantees the room can accommodate two people. No guarantee of bed types.

But actually, many hotels also don't. Bed type is only a request.

I've had very good luck on Priceline in Madrid, Bangkok, and most recently Reno Nevada.

No, you cannot specify room type or number of beds, but you can call or email the hotel after you win to request what you want.

The downside is sometimes you get attitude from the front desk because you've only booked a "priceline" room. They view this as license to give you the worst room in the place.

It helps if you belong to the frequent guest program of that hotel chain.

Only once has a clerk mentioned Priceline when I asked for something in particular. And even then she was accommodating after I asked again nicely.

"I hated the Bahamas, but at that price, who cared?"

Reminds me of the old borscht-belt one-liner: "The food is terrible, and the portions are too small!"

When I won the Hilton New York on PL in March, they upgraded us when I showed my HHonors card.

There are lots of islands in The Bahamas. Care to tell which one you were on that you hated so bad? Pretty big statement to say you "hated the Bahamas". Sort of like saying I hated the whole state of New Jersey because Newark is so nasty.

Or suggesting "Newark is so nasty", when only parts of it are.
