Porto...Questions !
We will bw in Portortgal in july. We have 13 nights for the whole Portugal (we dont want to go into the Algarve). We have some questions about Porto.
1) Is 2 nights enough ? We have a filght arriving at 10;55 from barcelona. So maybe we can start visit the city at 14:00 or something like that. and have the next full day. We have 2 kids (5 and 9 years old)
2) Where should we look for accomodation ? What is the best place to stay for a short period.
3) We want to rent a car after porto, is there many locators in the city ?
4) We want to go to Guimaraes and Braga. Should we do it as daytrip from porto 9and add night in porto) or do it with our car and stay in one or other city for one night ?
5) the same for Douro valley !
Thanks a lot !

Hi
We slept there in a nice apartment (legal...) at the end of the tram line.
So by car we were 15-20 min from center and by tram half an hour.
We stayed only 2 nights and visited Porto one day (I foudn it enough) and toured the Douro valley on the second (not enough, we should have slept somewhere).
Apartment in Foz (as I said, not in Porto proper but 15 min by car).

A michelin starred restaurant was within walking distance.
Something like Pdero Lemmos. Also with a 5 years old kid who enjoyed the food.

Thanks for those ideas.
Deciding how much time is always hard. Some say they stay 7 days in porto and haven't got the time to do everything they want to do !
A car could be more expensive than bus/train but will, for sure, give us more flexibility.

Hi, we were in Portugal last year for 3 weeks. Loved it and going back this year. I think if you did another day in Porto, you wouldn't regret it. Plenty to see and do. We stayed in the Guest House Douro. Fantastic location on the lively riverfront and lovely accommodations. Owners were so helpful with restaurants etc. In the Douro Valley region, we stayed at the Casa da Azenha and I could very happily relocate there. Just beautiful. Again, owners welcoming and helpful. Plus, they have a pool which I would think the kids would be happy about given the July heat. We had a car from Lisbon and traveled the Valley region and then on to Porto. Returned car in Porto and train back to Lisbon. No shortage of car rentals in Porto. Safe travel and hope you enjoy Portugal as much as we did.
