Many years ago I took my mother & my niece on our "1st trip" to europe on a Perillo Tour.
We had a wonderful time & I have great memories of our tour. I have since returned to
Italy many times (on my own) but using a tour company for our introduction to traveling
abroad was a good idea. My niece was very young (around 10 yrs.) and she still talks about our trip.

but your thread isn't nearly as entertaining . . .
janisj .... That's the point ... Ha Ha
deedeedee; But it is refreshing.
Janis, that is true, however, I believe the rant against Perillo, to which I believe you are referring, is unjustified and an unjustified rant, regardless of how entertaining, can be unjustifiably harmful to an individual, as well as to a company and deedeedee's entry is useful information in helping to offset some of the possible damage inflicted by the writer of the entry in question. Though, I must admit the vast majority of the replies to the writer in question fairly well put him in his place. While negative comments regarding ones true experience is also useful information and is to be encouraged, and you were just being tongue-in-cheek, lets encourage positive comments as well.
"can be unjustifiably harmful to an individual, as well as to a company . . . lets encourage positive comments as well."
jeeze - lighten up . . .
No one w/ ANY sense is taking Joseph1950 seriously . . .
. . . And his silly little blog won't hurt Perillo - they've been in business for decades.
Maybe your post would be more effective if your screen name wasn't taken from a comedian who makes fun of developmentally disabled people.
And everyone on the thread criticizing Perillo tours admits that they are overpriced and a waste of money and that the ads are filled with lies and "puffery". Perillo has failed to respond in any way and I find that telling. Who wants to do business with someone like that?
A tour company should be your advocate, not just in it to take your money and run.
There are no 'lies' in any Perillo ad. My goodness, where did that come from? Isn't most advertising 'puffery' - at least a bit. But cite one lie. Just because our Joseph didn't think his vacation was a dream does not mean Perillo lied to them.
And c'mon . . . Joseph though it was a 'lie' to use actors in the commercials.
I have taken two perillo tours and both times were great. My son and his wife just used their italy vacation website to do their honeymoon and also had a wonderful time spending half what they would have with a travel agent. It's really sad that Joseph had a bad vacation I know how horrible that can be, but at this point he is making an ass out of himself. Everyone knows that the perillo family has done a ton for the italian community in new york and jersey. Their tours in my opinion at first class all the way.
and stayed in some amazing hotels. I would have never planned a vacation like the ones perillo did for us.
Yeah you might pay a little more, but my husband and I never waited in line once, we ate amazing food (almost as good as my cooking
ps. I didn't get to read the original post by joseph ( i can't find it after searching), but did he really say they used actors? I'm pretty sure the son does all the commercials. Oh and another thing.. they are the only people to actually invest in advertising. If it wasn't for the google reminding me all the time I might not have gone back. Doesn't that mean they really are trying to get my business and care if I'm a customer?
joseph's entire rant was most likely a fake (IMHO) with the idea of getting people to go to his blog to sell them something or to get their computer web information. he is the only scam artist i can see in this whole thing (again this is my opinion).
While I believe Perillo is a reputable company I definitely would not call their tours first class - they are definitely in the moderate category (by any basis, price, hotels, used, restauratns, etc). There's nothing wrong with this if that's your budget and I imagine most people are reasonably satisfied.
Sorry - but what good the family does to a specific community is immaterial.
If one is buying a service - one wants to know what one is getting - not that the people who own the company are humanitarians.
As for the guy with the clownish web site -- I don't think he would be satisfied with anything. And agree that the stupidity of his blog - and his complaints - would preclude my taking part in any business arrangement with him. (Which he doesn;t seem to have considered in his totally overblown litany of complaints.)
nytraveler .... You are right. Perillo is definitely NOT a 1st class tour company.
Tauck & A. & K. are !
