Peanut Butter on a Plane?

No, this topic isn't inherently for the Europe forum, but since my flight is international, and this forum is usually very busy, I decided that the folks on here would possibly be able to answer my question.

I know this is funny, but here goes:

I am going to Canada and bringing my friend a brand of healthy peanut butter she can't get in Canada. I know I can't bring it on my carry on, as I had originally planned. So I figured that I would just double bag the vacuum sealed jars in ziplock baggies and put them in my check in luggage.

Here is the worry....they are vacuum sealed...will the pressure in the luggage area affect this? Would it be better to open them and break the vacuum seal, and then place them back in the ziplock baggies?

Or should I try and find a different method altogether than doesn't involve a glass jar? I am not worried about it breaking as it will be heavily cushioned...but I am worrying about the pressure. Perhaps just getting plain plastic tubs that just press and seal instead of regular twist cap style jars.

Has anyone here checked in jarred items in their check in luggage?

I don't think you'll have a problem. If only she was a fan of Skippy and not your healthy brand:

Problem solved!

The pressure in the cargo hold of an airliner is exactly the same as in the passenger compartment. Your peanut butter will be fine.

This is just a guess, but if you can ship or mail peanut butter in the cargo hold of a plane, and it is designed not to burst, why would it burst in your suitcase? FYI, On the other hand, I have tried to ship my father chocolate covered Sees cherries and they leak all over!
