Pay attention to your watches !
LAst week a chinese toursit got robbed of a watch that she had left in her car whilst she was emptying her trunck.
Watch is valued at 130 000 €.
When I googled 'paris vol chinois montre' I found 3 cases over 1,5 years : 200 k€, 90 k€ and now 130 k€.
What do the police do ! we cannot feel safe in Paris if watches keep being stolen...

Chinese tourists are targeted i understand because thieves figure they must be rich and carrying such stuff and easy marks- like one not long ago carrying around thousands of dollars (or euros?) in cash.
I think kerouac who lives in Paris does rest assured...with his cheap watch. Keep the family jewels at home.

I'm guessing this is tongue-in-cheek, right?
The people who wear expensive watches when they travel probably also wear money belts so they don't get robbed.
I'm sorry for anyone who has a bad experience while traveling but really, why wear an expensive watch? There are thousands of decent cheap ones that you're not going to mind losing.
I don't normally wear a watch but because I wasn't going to be taking my phone to Italy, I went to our local drugstore and bought a $25 watch to wear on our trip. If I'd lost it or it had gotten stolen, I wouldn't have shed a tear over it.
I don't understand the lure of expensive watches anyway but I know they're important to some.

Oh yes, tongue in cheek. I see Robin Hood pictured in my mind when I read such stories.
I guess this particular tourist said 'shoot, I must now go back and buy another one'.
The thief, I prefer to think he came back home and gave a steak to his famished family. ;-)

I actually understand the reason why folks wear "expensive" (that very subjective term) items which includes CLOTHING.
It is a risk doing so and perhaps riskier in some locations as compared to others.
I'm glad to see the "I'm smarter than you are" folks chimed in with suggestions for betterment, too.

I cannot imagine wearing a 130,000 euro watch. Seems ridiculous to me unless you want to flaunt it, in which case on some level you're seeking attention and will get the bad along with the good. And one has to assume it was insured.
I don't use a watch. I use my $25 cell phone. I also leave good jewelry (not that I have much of it) at home.

Yes a presumed commie from a self-proclaimed commie country with such a watch - no doubt gained from corruption or cronyism - not too sympathetic to the victim. Many fellow comrades in China will not make that much money in several lifetimes.
Yes what was that 130,000 e watch made of? Must have been solid gold?
and the Chinoises robbed of 5,000 euros at a Mercure Hotel - don't they have credit cards - why Chinese likely to carry cash? So expenses can't be traced?

We know here in Fl that people leaving stores carrying bags with famous logos on them are targets when they leave said bags in auto and then go back to shop for more items. We hear that warning every holiday. I am sure these people were targeted. I wear my wedding band and fitbit when travelling. Flashing your logo bags and luggage is not smart. Pariswat, missed you!

Hmmm. I just took it for granted that the events reported never happened and that this is simply an instance of insurance fraud.
That seems way more likely to me than someone even wearing a $140k watch during the day, let alone leaving it in the car.
