Paris restaurant to celebrate 50th birthday
I will be in Paris in November to celebrate my 50th birthday which is on a Saturday. Which restaurant do I choose? Let me know if I need to make reservations now and what the dress code is. Price range $100.00 per person is the max. <BR>

Marilyn--a lot of restaurants are closed on Saturday and Sunday. One March when we were there we had dinner one Saturday evening at a restaurant recommended by our hotel (L'Meridien Etoile) that was nearby, Le Lapin something--and it was one of my favorite dining experiences in Paris. We ordered the fixed price menu with wine, which included the perfect wine for each course. For someone like me, who really is an idiot when it comes to choosing the correct wine for the food, this was wonderful. Because the wine did so much complement the food. I think it would fit into your price range. i will try to locate the exact name. But going the fixed menu route always saves and can be something of an adventure too. I would make reservations as soon as possible at whichever restaurant you choose and the dress code probably varies with the restaurant--you could ask if jacket and tie is required. Two other restaurants open on Saturday are Beauvilliers (52 r Lamarck, 01-42-54-54-42; fax:01-42-62-70-30) near Sacre Coeur (jacket and tie)--my favorite as far as decor--lots of greenery and fresh flowers; and Benoit, which is less formal, but lots of fun, at 20 Rue St. Martin, near the Hotel d'Ville, phone 01-42-72-25-76, fax: 42-72-45-68.

Marilyn--the Jules Verne is a good restaurant that is open on Saturday and you have a great view of the city, if you request a table by the window. You need to make reservations as soon as possible because this is a very popular place. There are not many restaurants that receive Michelin ratings that are open on the weekend. Your best bet may be hotel restaurants--such as Les Ambassadeurs in the Hotel Crillon, which is a two star (out of three--this is very good, as even to get one star you must be excellent) restaurant, or les Celebrites (one star) in the Hotel Nikko.

Marilyn <BR> <BR>My wife and I will be celebrating her Birthday in Paris on November 6 (Also a Saturday - perhaps you share Birthdays?). <BR> <BR>I have chosen a Dinner Cruise using Bateaux Parisiens - cost FF580 per person. This includes Aperitif, Main Course, Dessert, Cheese, Coffee, Wine and Entertainment. The Cruise lasts 2.5 hours. Dress Code is *NO* Jeans/Sneakers. Contact Marie Bescancon at Marie_BESANCON/[email protected] <BR> <BR>The cost may seem high but, as far as I am concerned, It will be a great way to celebrate my wifes Birthday and one that she will always remember. <BR> <BR>Happy Birthday for your day. <BR> <BR>David
