Paris in mid October---weatherwise

We have been to Paris many times in Sept. and had great weather, but this year it was not to be.

Do you think we should take a chaance and hope for blue skies and beautiful golden leaves? I'm trying to stay positive and not think gray & rainy.

We're really on the fence on this one.

I had once a week in London (!) in November (!). It was sunny and very mild. I even could take of my jacket in Hyde Park.
Which is to say: weather is notorious for its unpredictability.

I have been a couple of times in October and been presently surprised. This year all around however it's been weird weather so can't say for sure. The next couple of weeks we'll see a lot of rain and the temps will drop, so perhaps if you go beginning to middle of October the rain will be over and you'll have some sunny skies and around 15 degrees of crisp but tolerable/refreshing weather. Plus it's Paris!

Hope it works out. Best of luck to you.

We go in Oct every year and have never had
miserable weather .In fact I only remember rain once, but my friends say I am protected personally by the weather gods. Cool enough to walk all day without breaking a sweat and no need to bundle up.

We had a week there last October, and we had sun, cloud and one day where it absolutely poured from about 10:30-6:00 pm. We prefer crisp days so walking is easier.

The chic Parisien women wore leather blazers, to give you an idea of the weight of a jacket you might wear. I say go for it!

We will be there the first part of October and are also wondering about the weather. Here is a forecast from accuweather

My son and DIL were there the first part of October last year and said it was absolutely lovely.

We're still on the fence. We have an apt. held on Ile St. Louis from the 9th-17th or within a day or 2 either way depending on flights. Must decide today.

I'd go 2 days earlier rather than later.

YOu can hope for whatever you want, no one can guarantee what it will be on those dates. Weather is fairly similar to US mid-Atlantic in October, which is usually very pleasant. It can always rain on some dates in any month, and October it rains about half the time. Of course the probability increases towards the end of the month. Monthly rainfall doesn't differ a whole lot in Paris by month, but Nov-Jan have the most days with precipitation.

It doesn't matter which forecast you use because the weather in Paris changes constantly and the forecasters can't predict anything with any certainty. Add global warming which has changed everything and you're right back at zero where you started.

It won't rain all the time and it won't be too hot or too cold either. Nobody can guarantee anything else. Whatever happened last year or in years before that has no bearing on this year's weather.

If you are this worried about a little bad weather in Paris maybe you should just stay home where you will be perfectly comfortable?

You can never depend on the weather, but you can always depend on Paris. Why not go?

October is my preferred month, I think I've gone twice in October. Great pictures of trees/ foliage.

I understand being iffy about August, Jan. or Feb., but not October.

Best wishes for making a decision.

Made our decision---we're going!!!! #11 to Paris, our favorite place.
Oct. 6th-14th.

Are the dates perfect? No, we would have liked another day or 2 BUT the flights were a real challange. We ended upp on United---definitely not our 1st,2nd, or even 3rd choice. Not very good seats either---bring on the wine!

We are considering this an adventure and will just take it as it comes.

Like most of you said, and we agree ----"It is Paris!"

Thanks for all of your support.

TPAYT, there is a wonderful festival at Sacre Coeur October 7-11. I've been there several times. Vendors from all over (wines, cheeses, desserts, everything). It is called Fete des Vendanges de Montmartre. It's the annual autumn harvest festival. Try to go on Saturday, you won't regret it.

@TPAYT, we've been 3 times before in Springtime (March & May) so I'm looking forward to seeing Paris in a new season.

I already ~know~ we'll be back because I absolutely adore Paris but probably in September during the Journee du Patrimoine week.

Sorry to miss you in Paris but I'll look forward to your trip report!
