You must be made of money. And your travel agent wants to relieve you of it. My old Michelin guide shows its per-room per-night charge to be about the size of the Albanian national debt. Darned if I'd spend that much money just for a fancy address. Check your Michelin (on those pages edged in red) and you can find a good hotel in the same arrondisement (precinct) for a fraction of what Prince de Galles (Prince of Wales) will sock you.

Do you WANT an expensive hotel? You can get clean comfortable accomodation at any number of good 2 star hotels throughout Paris. Everyone has their favourite, usually due to familiarity rather than wide ranging comparison. The Libertel chain are 3 star (around ff900 for a double with beakfast) and have some very good locations. I like the Bellechasse, abour 100m from the entrance to the Musee d'Orsay, just over the river from the Louvre.

We stayed there about five years ago when it was a Marriott hotel. Very nice and very expensive. My wife had a gold bracelet stolen from the room - doors were always locked - so go figure. Wouldn't stay there again - not for the theft reson, could have happened anywhere - but much better value hotel rooms available (unless your going on business expense account, then live it up)
