Palau Guell in Barcelona, anyone been recently?
Hi,
I see that Palau Guell has finally reopened after a long renovation. My last visit to Barcelona was 2 years ago and at that time, only the basement was open for visit (free at that time).

I'm curious to see if anyone has been to Palau Guell since the reopening? If you have, how does it rank against Casa Mila and Casa Batllo? I consider those 2 as must-sees in Barcelona. Since I'm traveling with my parents who have never been to Barcelona, I wonder if Casa Mila & Casa Batllo would be enough, or should we make an effort to visit Palau Guell as well? Thanks

Actually, I was just there but missed seeing it, unfortunately, things didn't work out. However, in addition to the housing you name, I really would consider Sagrada Familia as a must see in the Gaudi category. I almost didn't go inside as when I got there, the line was very long and I just didn't know if I wanted to wait (around the corner of the block around to about the end of the cathedral). But I got in line to think about it, and then just went with it. I thought it might be an hour wait but it actually didn't take that long (maybe 30-40 min) and when I got inside, wow, I was sure glad I had waited because I've never seen anything like that church. The Pedrera was enjoyable, but I really think the Sagrada Familia is unique in its interest. I would just try to make an effort to get there early in the day, that was my mistake (or laziness), I didn't get there until mid-day.

Hi Christina, thanks. Yes, Sagrada Familia is definitely on our list too. I read a recent thread about how to purchase tickets in advance that will allow one to skip the line, but I think we should be able to make it there right at opening time.

I saw it in May. It is not among my favorite Gaudi sites. I felt in general Gaudi's deference to nature got a bit lost in the ostentatious style. It just felt like over the top wealth, which was not surprising given the commission. It just didn't do much for me. There were details I appreciated but I would not include it on my list of must sees in the city. There are many modernisme sites (not just Gaudi) that I would place ahead of this one.

It's opened, I was there in February and it's great. I saw tickets on official site http://palauguell.cat/but then find them on http://toptovisit.com and buy there - to Palau, to Sagrada and to MACBA together with a discount.
