Our trip to italy is almost here

Hey guys..We are leaving for Italy on October 6. We are doing 3 nights in Venice..then off to Florence for 3 days, then ending up in Rome for our last 3 nights. I'm looking for any advice on food(not to pricey but good), sights that we shouldn't miss...and also...the best way to get from city to city. thanks guys

Eurostar is your best bet for getting from place to place. And it would be best for you to do a search here under each city's name for hundreds of restaurant suggestions.

At the top of this page, under 'Destinations', Fodor's will have sights to see noted under each city's name. I'm taking it you are a 'fly by the seat of your pants' kind of person, or that you mean October, 2009, if you are just asking these questions now.

Hello clifbob, the easiest way to get from Venice to Florence to Rome
note that the cities in Italian are Venezia, Firenze and Roma) is by train. Here is the English language version of the official Trenitalia website. From Venice to Florence the train takes about three hours and from Florence to Rome it takes about 90 minutes.

http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html

Wishing you a wonderful time in beautiful Italy!

P.S. Some people order their train tickets via the website but a lot of people have a problem trying to do so. Personally I would buy all of the tickets when I first arrived in Venice.

Few places make you actually check your camera, but in many places you you cannot take photos with flash, or photos of any kind.

Here's a few restaurants in Rome, close by Piazza Navona, that are not too expensive:

Da Francesco - Piazza Fico

Virginiae - Close by Piazza della Pace

Cool little spot for a drink:

Of course I'm sure you'll try the Gelato everywhere. Here's two great places in Rome. Let me know which one is better:

And of course in Rome you have to have morning coffee at these two places. Again, let me know which one is better:
