Oberammergau and beyond - Ettal Abbey & Linderhof (Germany) by public transport?

We have 6 days to spend in Bavaria this October (Fri 19 - Thu 25), planning on basing ourselves in Munich, and will be using public transportation to get around.

Using a Bayern pass, we want to take the train into Oberammergau, which leaves Munich at 9:32 and arrives at 11:20. However, the bus that goes to "Linderhof Forsthaus, Ettal" (assuming this is the correct stop) leaves at 11:20, the same time the train arrives! Do you think there is a chance they will wait for the train and we can connect? The next bus leaves an hour later.

Now, coming back from Linderhof Forsthaus, Ettal, the bus stops at many other places in Ettal, I'm hoping one of them might be the Ettal Abbey, particularly the brewery. Can anyone tell me which stop to get off at?

I kept mentioning the Ettal Abbey to my husband and he had no interest in it... until I mentioned the brewery. Now he wants to go. Any recommendations on a good brew?

Thanks for any information you can provide. Peace, Robyn >-

Where do you see 11:20, I have looked up at bahn.de and it departs at 11:25! Which is OK - the other way round it would not make sense, the bus would travel empty.

The stop you need is not Forsthaus but "Schloss, Ettal-Linderhof"
You can see the whole itinerary if you enter Munich (whatever station) and "Schloss Linderhof" into the bahn.de schedule planner.

Clicking on the bus or train number gives you the complete list of stops.

altamiro - Thanks for your response. The date we are planning on travelling to Oberammergau and beyond, is Tuesday, the 23rd of October, so that's what I've been using for my "Bahn" searches. I've also read on fodors that the best route from Munich, via public transport, is train into Oberammergau, then catch a bus to Linderhof.

Using October 23rd and searching Munich to Oberammergau, then Oberammergau to Schloss, Ettal-Linderhof brings up the 11:20/11:20 connection, which doesn't make sense (hhmmm).

When I use the same date on the Bahn search, and put in Munich Hbf to Schloss, Ettal-Linderhof, it comes up with a bus connection through Oberau, not a train connection in Murnau then on to Oberammergau. I suppose we could go either way, each ends up on Bus 9622, which will drop us at Linderhof. Thanks for the correct name of the stop. Robyn >-

I'm still looking for information about Ettal Abbey -

At which bus stop should we get off?

Any opinions about the brewery?

Thanks, Robyn >-
