In Venice try the Al Ponte Antico on the Grand Canal adjacent the Rialto. Request a room facing the Grand Canal. http://www.alponteantico.com/en/index.htm

Also in Venice, the Casa de Uscoli is next to the Palazzo Barbaro on the Grand Canal and offers 3 rooms. The Salute Suite faces the Grand Canal and has a breathtaking view. http://www.casauscoli.com/en/casauscoli.htm

Hello cambee, I have always stayed at the Hotel Carlton in Pescara. It is across the street from the Adriatic Sea and the long lovely beach. There are restaurants and cafes along the beach and it is easy to walk to the business center which has a lot of wonderful stores etc. We always had a room that faced the beach.

Keep in mind that in Italy the number of stars for hotels refers to the ammenties the hotel has and doesn't always mean the furnishings are over the top wonderful. The Hotel Carlton was always comfortable but not plush but I heard they had renovated the hotel recently. We always had excellent service from the hotel staff. Pescara has never seemed to be a city that many Americans visit but we always found there were enough hotel employees that spoke English.

I can't help with Sorrento as we always stayed at a resort hotel in Massa Lubrense which is just a few miles south of Sorrento. Here is the website for the hotel which we always loved for many reasons including the view!

It sounds like you will have a car so if you decided to book with the Hotel Delfino that works out well.

Thanks for the information.
LoveItaly, is the Hotel Carlton far from the Train/ bus station if we don't have a car?We actually are only staying for one night in Pescara to leave Mom with relative while we go to Sorrento for 4 days. Would taking a car or a bus from Rome be the fastest way to Pescara than the train?
We are not sure whether we will keep car in Sorrento. So, we may need a hotel within walking distance to sites .
I am still working out touring plans for trip, nothing is set except air tickets.
Venice hotels look nice, I need to check availability and rates.
Thanks again for help.

In Sorrento have a look at the Excelsior Grand Vittoria. Very nice hotel set in a large private garden with pool, beautiful plantins and lemon trees - but the garden entrance is right off the town's main piazza. The hotel is set on a cliff looking out over the Bay of Naplse with nice terraces and many room have balconies.

There is a private elevator down to the dock where you pick up the ferries to Capri and down the Coast. Also have private parking. We've been twice in May and it was beautiful and they were discounting rates to a resaonable level.
