Need help with Basque country trip
I'm planning a trip to the Basque country in July 2007. I have to spend the first week in Paris at a conference, then I want to take the train to either Bayonne or Biarritz. I'll have about 10 days to spend, and I'd like to see as much of the Atlantic coast of the Basque country as is feasible. I won't be driving, so I'll have to depend upon trains, etc. Thanks for any help!

Don't miss San Sebastian. Enter it in the "search this forum" box above and read all the threads. It is one of the jewels of Europe.
Book your hotel in Biarritz ASAP. This is a popular summer vacation spot for Europeans. Pretty good waves. There is a very good overnight train from Paris.

Thanks for all of your help! I have read Maribel's guide, and it's full of useful information--I'll be carrying it with me! We will be going to San Sebastian and St. Jean. However, I'm wondering how much time to allow for each town--should we just stay in two or three towns as a base, and if so , which ones? What about recommendations for hotels and restaurants? I don't usually plan this far in advance, but I know that this area is going to be crowded. Thanks again!
