My first experience with ordering tix from Go-Today.com

I haven’t gone on my trip yet, but I know that we’ve had posts in the past from folks who were hesitant to order tickets from a web-based travel agency. Well, I was skeptical at first too….I mean, where’s the security in that? Would they honor their commitment given that you have to pay everything up front and let’s be real here….they could take the money and run.

Well, don’t sweat it, it’s a piece of cake. I made reservations from ATL to Paris in August with the understanding that I would receive my tickets at least two weeks before departure. I had to pay 100.00 extra since I would be leaving from Atlanta rather than say, NYC. Nevertheless for the meager sum of 1584.00 (for two people), we:

 will receive roundtrip airline tickets to Paris (first leg of trip is in first class!)
 will be picked up from/to the airport by a limo service
 will have a one hour cruise on the Seine
 will spend 8 nights at the Wallace Hotel (which is a block and a half from the metro station) where continental breakfasts are included as are hotel taxes and service charges.
 Will receive maps and general info about Paris.

Well, I’m happy to say that I received all of the above today (November 8th) via 2-day Fedex for my February 27th trip! Everything is in order, every t is crossed and every i is dotted. I’m thrilled, jubilant and elated over the prospect of taking my first trip to Europe and I want to thank everyone here who helped me to make an educated decision by sharing your vast wealth of knowledge! You’re the best. Also, I hope that this will help folks who are sitting on the fence about this company. I’m sure that you will be as impressed as I am!

Renee
Hey it's the new millenium! Modern methods now apply. I booked our last trip to italy/paris/croatia all on the internet. air/hotels/rental car/ etc. all went just fine, hotels were better than hoped for.

Renee
I too took a go-today trip and spent some time in Paris at the Wallace Hotel. Make sure you buy a metro pass as you should be using the subway quite a bit for that location. The immediate area around the Wallace doesn't have a lot of choices for fine dining(I believe you are in the 15th).

Have a great trip.

I will be flying United, thanks JJ...we are definitely buying the passes because the 15th is purely residential...not complaining though...it will give us a chance to see how the natives live! yea!

Flygirl...

I think it was the luck of the draw....and perhaps because the reservation was sooo far in advance. Just heard about United furloughing more flight attendants...sorta nervous, but go-today assured me a couple of months ago that we would be placed on another flight if they fold...which I don't really think will happen anyway.

Renee,
Hate to burst your bubble - but for goodness sakes the trip is still months away - save the jubilation until AFTER the trip!

I disagree, 5x. The anticipation of a first trip like this is half the fun and she's been working her way up to this one for a long time. Way to go, Renee!

I still remember our first trip to Europe. The anticipation was so wonderful. We went on a 17 day "tour".
Now plan everything myself on the internet. We asked the flight attendant if we could buy champagne to toast our first trip to Europe and of course were served wonderful little fizzy bottles "free". We were such novices but that toast forever sticks in my mind. I always think of it with such pleasure whenever I get on the plane now and wish I could get back that first time feeling. I love to go to Europe everytime but the first was so special. Happy travels. I may try to snag a trip with go-today in Feb. for my anniversary if husband's schedule allows. First Class. Way to go!!

I also booked a trip with gotoday - mine is in March to London and I booked it in September and already have the tickets - same as Renee said, everything is in order and looks exactly like it should. I've never used this company before but have booked hotels and air over the internet for previous trips and everything as always been as good or better than I expected. I feel sorry for travel agents but why would anyone not use the internet to book their trips is beyond me.
