Milan and Como when pregnant

Hi everyone. I'm going to Milan for four days and the lake como for a week with my husband on 8 July. I will be turning 6 months pregnant when I'm there and looking for some advice on some things to do in both places.

In Milan - we are staying beside the station at the echo hotel. We have both been to Milan before and really enjoyed it. Planning a day trip to Bergamo as per advice on some of the other threads. Just a big concerned about the heat. Our hotel doesn't have a pool and I was Looking for recommendations for how to cool off/relax during the day. Would people recommend any hotels where we could go for a dip or any public pools for the day? Any suggestions for some relaxing touristy things to do during the day?

We are staying in como in an air b n b and planning on getting a weekly ferry ticket. Again
, just looking for some suggestions for things to do that are fun but not too taxing!

Thanks in advance!

Your hotel is going to be the best source of information about where to find pools that might accept you on a daypass.

While most of your itinerary is very flat with pleasant public transportation options, Bergamo is a tremendously steep hill town. Weather forecasts for next week are for excessive heat. Rather than Bergamo, there is a slight possibilit that the flat lakeshore Lago Maggiore will be a touch cooler. The town of Stresa is reachable by train, and you can have a nice lunch in an airconditioned but historic hotel restaurant with a scenic view.

Just in general the heat is going to be so intense across Northern Italy next week that taxi rides to air conditioned venues within Milan are a better bet than daytrips to places where the heat of midday would be dangerous for anybody to be outside walking around for hours. Or you might consider taking the money you'll be spending on taxis & museum entrances to beat the heat and seeing if you can book a hotel with a pool, even if it is at the edge of town rather than near the train station.

The ferries can be quite hot too.

That is an excellent point. You need to plan the day so that you are not exposed to hot sun after the morning cooler hours have ended.

I would add that in the evening, in some parts of Milan and also around the lakes, one needs to mindful of mosquitoes, especially if it is not breezy. I am unfamiliar with what is advised as mosquito protection for pregnant women (perhaps it is the same as for all adults) but if you ask at any pharmacy in Italy you will be sold the appropriate product.

Does your Air BnB have AC? Many don't.

Are you staying in the city of Como? I would advise another smaller town, location mid-lake.

Thanks for the advice already. Our air b n b has AC. I'm just back from Barcelona where it was in the high 20's and I was usually ok. Just very careful to take regular breaks and do things in the morning or late afternoon.

Going to have a look at the possibility of cancelling the hotel in Milabd and re booking for one with a pool.
