Lucerne: The Hotel Lucerne or Hotel des Alpes?
We are going to be in Lucerne for three nights. I have been looking at hotels and trying to find a nice place with a good location, and possibly a view. (high speed internet is a plus - DH may have to work a little).
I liked what I've read about The Hotel Lucerne and the Hotel des Alps... any comments?
THANKS!!!!

If you type in the hotel names in the "Search this forum" box and hit enter, you'll get 50-60 threads where these hotels are mentioned.
Never stayed at the Lucerne, but have stayed 4 times at the Des Alpes. You can't beat the location (pay more for a river-view room), the breakfast is very good, with terrace and indoor seating, and the indoor/outdoor restaurant is terrific. No wireless when we visited in 2004. They did have a computer for patron use, but charged a per minute fee.

I always carry my laptop with me to Switzerland (was just there in April) and I have yet to find free wireless anywhere! Good luck with that! I've had to buy SwissCom cards for 30 min, 2 hours, 24 hours, etc. and they are not cheap. Some hotels have a lobby computer for free usage.
I have not stayed at your two hotels but have stayed in several other places in Lucern. I've seen Des Alpes from the outside and can say that it does look nice.
