[London] Pre or Post Theatre Restaurant Suggestions
Hi. I'm planning to catch a show on the West End probably seeing what's being offered that day at TKTS. Any suggestions on a good restaurant for dinner in the area? Thanks!

Well - until you know which theatre, you can't know what restaurants are nearby. Theatres handled by TKTS are spread everywhere - from Victoria, to Shaftsbury Ave, to Covent Garden to other areas.
But there are hundreds of restaurants spread through the theatre districts and most of them offer pre-theatre/early bird meals.

Was posting the same time as avalon . . .
avalon's suggestions are fine - IF you go to a show near Covent Garden/Drury Lane. Not so hot if the theatre is on Haymarket or near Piccadilly Circus, or at Victoria . . .

Meant to add - I wouldn't select my show at TKTS based on where it is/nearby restaurants. I'd base it on which shows I wanted to see and which had the best seats available. Then I'd decide where to eat.

A really great show, is Priscella queen of the desert or Jersey boys. We couldn't get Oliver Ticksts at TKTS but got good seats at the box office on the day of performance ...25 GBP for 50 GBP seats!

What is nearby Drury Lane that is decent? We also are going to see Oliver and originally we were going to go to Sarastro based on guidebooks but if CW says it is bad...
How about Browns or Porters English? Porters also got bad reviews on trip advisor. What is good?

We would be really interested in any good POST- theatre suggestions anywhere in the West end, Picadilly circus, etc. Pre-theatre dinners are usually too early for us. We've gone after the theatre a couple of times to places that are supposed to have a good post-theatre menu, but invariably they are not busy at all and there isn't any energy. We've felt like we were keeping all the restaurant staff from closing up and going home. So, we'd love a suggestion for a popular place post-theatre

Oh crikey. You're going to have to be a bit more specific.
The west End is packed with places to eat. What do you want? What's your budget etc.....

I always suggest this place because I have eaten there on more than one occassion and was never disappointed:

Cote seems to be right next door to the Theater Royal where Oliver is playing.
32 Great Queen Street doesn't seem too far at all either.
What else is within a kilometer?
Is Porters another place to avoid?
What about Browns?--This chain appears to me to be like our Applebees or TGI Fridays which are US chains that serve just basic fare--lots of decent food--nothing special. Am I wrong?

I like Brown's, but I'm afraid to say so since someone just responded to my suggesting it by saying it's the worst possible choice and serves microwaved food.
What I especially like is their Steak, Mushroom, & Guinness Pie (hich comes with a puff pastry cover that couldn't possibly be microwaved) and the Sticky Toffee Pudding which is divine. We go to the one on St. Martin's Lane. I don't think it's at all like Applebee's.
