Lisbon to spain to lisbon in 14 days
We are traveling to Lisbon on 13th November. I would like to stay in Lisbon for 2 days and then travel to Seville for 2 days, Cordoba for 2-3 days, Granada for 3-4 days, Ronda for 1 day and then to Malaga to fly back to Lisbon. I would be traveling either thru Train or Bus. How does my schedule look like? Do you think I should add 2-3 days in Madrid or will it be too hectic.
I will appreciate if you can propose an itinerary for two of us who are interested in historical places and rural life.
Thank you

2 days is not much for Lisbon and 2 days is not much for Seville. Your other times look about right to me, except that I don't see how you are accounting for time for any of your transportation, a particular problem for getting to and from Lisbon (the train is, I think, about 7 hours), and I don't see how you would have time for Madrid unless you added time to your total trip. You might want to lay out your options by counting nights, rather than days, and including the time you will need to get from place to place.
Are you committed to flying into and out of Lisbon? If not, explore your open-jaw options (into one city, out of another).
I trust you realize that this plan does not include exposure to "rural life"?

***interested in historical places and rural life.**
Whilst every part of your wish list is historical there is nothing rural about the destinations.
If you are fixed in flying in and out of Lisbon, then may I suggest you stay in Portugal and hire a car?
Loads of "rural life" can be found that way.

Thank you everyone. Yes I have to fly in and out from Lisbon to US. KJA Thanks for your idea of counting nights instead of days. I will plan tonight. Will it be cheaper to rent a car from Lisbon and back to Lisbon or rent a car once in Spain and dropin spain.
Thank you for your time.
Thank you for your time.

I can't answer your question about costs of a rental, but I can offer some relevant thoughts:
First, you don't need a car for any of the places you have mentioned, and if anything, a car could be an encumbrance. For example, parking might not be convenient for the places you want to stay or visit, and the costs of parking could be high. In contrast, public transportation (including both trains and buses) in Spain is, IME, comfortable and convenient.
Second, if you must fly out of Lisbon, then you would do well to make sure you are there the night before your flight, and if you have to do that, then it makes sense to put your time in Lisbon at the end of your trip. But If there is any chance that you will have jet lag, you would do well to take public transportation for your first night or two. There is mounting evidence that driving with jet lag is just as dangerous -- to yourself and others -- as driving drunk, and nothing you can do will prevent the microsleeps (which you might not even notice) that are the apparent culprit.
So I urge you to consider giving serious consideration to flying from Lisbon to Andalusia, using trains and buses once there, and then flying back to Lisbon. RonZ has given you some great flight options. You might check with the airline you plan to use into/out of Lisbon to see if they can add a destination to your initial flight so that you minimize your logistical challenges.
Good luck!
