Lisbon Hop-on/Hop-off Buses?

We only have one day in Lisbon -I know, extremely limiting but better than nothing.. has anyone tried using these buses? We have used them in lots of other places as a "starter" to get an overview. It appears to be the least expensive way to see the most..but we are open to suggestions (the $ is killing us!) Thank you.

I was just in Lisbon at the beginning of July and was only aware of the red double decker bus-found it to be very infrequent and does a huge boring loop.As I sat waiting for the red bus ,I observed a yellow bus-double decker w/wild abstract paintings go by much more frequently! This is THE one to take-it has 2 routes going and appears to go by much more frequently.I had just bought my 2 day pass and didn't want to waste more money but the yellow on/off one is the way to go!

There is a Carristur HOHO bus, and another HOHO from CityLine. I used the Carristur bus (but it was a few years ago) and found it to be pretty useful for getting an overall tour of the city. You can pick it up at the Praça do Comércio.

I have also heard that the CityLine bus isn't as nice, but can't personally vouch for it one way or the other. I've seen it listed on the Viator website (around $24.00).

I recommend you to take the Carristur's yellow Hop on Hop off bus at Praça do Comércio. You can choose between two different routes (Olisipo and Tagus Tour) and buy 24 or 48-hour ticket which can be also used on public transport network. The commentary is available in 8 languages. Besides, the same company offers also 2 tramcar tours and 2 train tours, so just choose and enjoy
