Yesterday I wrote a short post about Lisbon.Today it is not possible to find this post.I am so unhappy to receive people's ignorance here.I wonder why these people behaved so bad to me!I just stated my opinion.
To make myself clear.Lisbon, was a "surprise" for me!The city has some nice monuments that are worth visiting, but generally portuguese do not pay any attention to their heritage, they havent made any renovation, therefore they look dirty and black. Moreover, it was the first time I had seen so much grafitti,it has spoiled everything nice.Grafitti was everywhere, I mean everywhere!
Yesterday I said that I saw many poor people living in bad conditions.Yes it is true. You cannot change my mind.I havent seen such terrible block of flats in France, nor Spain.
I remember the area, Amadora some kms away from Lisbon. In Lisbon there were a lot of dirty roads, in Praca Comercio I was attached twice by 2 men who were selling marijuana or something like that,it was 11 in the morning.
As far as Sintra is concerned, I didnt say that I didnt like it.I just said that it is not something special.Of course ,portueguese state that it is one of greatest place of interest. It is easy to understand.Portugal is generally dry(except for the north), Lisbon is dry too, there are just 3-4 parks, therefore there isnt so much green to see.Sintra is so famous because there is plenty of green. There are also some interesting palaces.
Cascais is a fishing village, cute, but not special. You cannt swim in Cascais sea, it is extremely cold.
I noted that portuguese do not pay attention to their heritage, in contrast they create some nice areas around Lisbon, which are clean and modern.PARQUE DAS nACOES for example. Is it so bad that I like nice, modern and clean areas of interest and not a polluted city full of grafitti and relics.
Yes, Portugal has its own history, but portuguese seem to have forgotten it.

Boy you should see all the grafitti in Milano. That didnt spoil the Italy experience for me. Just blocks away was the beautiful Duomo and the Victor Emmanuel Galleria. I focused on the positive and forgot all about the grafitti.

Why is there so much drug dealing, trash and grafitti? I thought they were socialists and had great social services.

I loved Lisbon and all of Portugal and have traveled there a few times and have made long lasting friendships with some Portugese friends who I try to visit every other year but....I hate to say it but there is a lot of petty crime there and drugs are becoming more of a problem and a lot of the older parts of the city are becoming more and more rundown and filthy. During the time the World Expo was in Lisbon they cleaned the city up beautifully - but now that that has been over and done with for a few years a lot of things have started to go downhill again. Portugal is not a rich country - but even though it has it's problems, it's still my favorite part of Europe.

Good on you,in your next post you will be saying Lisbon is the most beautiful city you have been to.
Your atempt to bring back your dislike for Portugal is childish and foolish.

I'm also very unhappy that your post disappeared. It was a pity because of the so many replies stating exactly the opposite of your totally untrue and somewhat insane post.

Just one thing, we have drugs like any other country all over the world has drugs but I doubt that you were offered them twice. I live in Portugal and have never been offered any drugs on the streets nor have my 20 and 23 year old kids. Maybe you visited the wrong places in Lisbon or maybe you looked like someone who uses them. Usually people who want drugs in Portugal go to the places that sell them , they are not offered drugs on the streets.

Whatever your trauma with Portugal is, stop with your nonsense.

Curious, we aren't socialists anymore, thank God! We are social democratics now. It was Socialism that made our country worse, it didn't bring it any good, believe me.

mrs Tereza, your posts show how much civilised you are. You are always offending me!I wasn't rude to you, were I?I stated my opinion,it was clear, I never offended you.
The truth is: Lisbon is a rumble down, particularly dirty city. It needs a lot of renovation.People have a good time their because they eat and drink well and cheap. And Tereza....I am not looking like a drug addict. You love your country so much, fanatically I would say, therefore you don't see the disadvantages that your city has.
As far as graffiti is concerned, it is not artistic graffiti, whereas everyone has the habit to write everywhere stupid messages, you know what I mean.
