My wife and I will be traveling throughout Portugal,Spain,France and Italy on a 3 month trip. We will be leasing....and have a choice of a Peugot 208 with AutoEurope (who we have used many times for a shoter term rental) or a Renault Megan Berline...directly through the Renault distributor There is only $150 difference...so price is a non issue. Both leases are zero deductible..again non issue. Does anyone have experience driving these vehicles to offer an opinion?
Lease Renault Megane or Peugot 208

My personal taste is for the Peugeot. They seem to be more 'luxurious' than Renault.
I've driven both. Whatever you do, get a diesel. Diesel is cheaper than petrol in Europe and get significantly better mileage.
One of the Renaults that I rented was a diesel. It managed to get around 50 mpg. My last rental was a beast, a Peugeot 508, but it was a diesel and it got 33-35 mpg.
reneault---you will get a brand new car... watch any drop-off fee... have you looked at the citreon lease package?
watch any drop-off fee...
All leases will have pick-up and drop-off fees outside France.
I haven't driven the latest versions of either of these models, but the Megane is the larger car. Personally, I would prefer a larger vehicle for the sort of mileage you intend to cover, but other people have different ideas. I once saw a Smart car with Portugese licence plates in Scotland.
I too would go for the Megane. It is a bigger car, and will be more comfortable for the length of time you want it for.
A diesel should also be more economical.
If you go to Peugeot and Renault's UK websites you can compare the two cars. Some specs will be different though - UK cars tend to have higher specs than European ones. The mileage figures (or litres/100km) will be the same though.
Oh btw my son's FIL has a 208 and while he likes it his wife finds the seats really uncomfortable after only a couple of hours.

Have you checked with AutoFrance? It is the Peugeot version of the buy/lease back plan like you are comparing with Renault. We found that it was better priced than the version handled by AutoEurope. But admittedly it's been a few years now since doing it.
Usually when doing comparisons, we found the extra charge to get a diesel would not match the savings on the fuel -- unless we were going to be doing a LOT of driving -- as we did once with a three month lease plan.
