Greetings everyone. I'm planning a 16 day trip to Rome, Greece and Spain in early June with my very active 5 year old and his 2 grandmas. I need help and guidance to make this trip special for all 3 of them, please. So far I have 3 nights in Rome, 6 nights in Crete, 3 nights in Athens, and 4 nights in Madrid. I have no clue as to what to plan around my travel companions age discrepancy. Would very much appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

Not what you asked but I think you need to recognize how much time you are expending travelling (not less than 20% of your time accommodation door to accommodation door)and how tired you could be irrespective of your ages. You say 16 day trip and then talk of nights. 3 nights in Rome or Athens will only give you two full days in each, 4 nights in Madrid will only give you three. If on top of this (there is no indication where you are from)this includes (transatlantic?) flight days......!
Point well taken, Wombatt, thank you...We are flying from Houston Texas, so I guess I have to go back and rethink this quite a bit.
Try writing it out like this
June 1st leave Houston @ whatever time
June 2nd - Arrive Rome @ am, travel to hotel, settle in
June 3rd: Rome
June 4th: Rome
June 5th: leave Rome, travel to where ever. travel to hotel, settle in
It gives you a visual, if you see exactly when you are coming and going.
And allow extra time at your first stop. You will arrive sleepy and jet-lagged. Jet-lag means at 3 AM you wake up wide awake and get sleepy at 7 PM -- because your body-clock has not yet reset to local time. I find it takes longer to get over jet-lag as I get older.
This sounds like a hard trip for grandmas and kids alike. You will all be groaning when it's the third time to pack up and move, not to mention the fourth and fifth. I would eliminate at least one destination.
Thank you all for your input.
