Kaiserslautern to Paris

Debating on taking the expensive ICe train or driving and staying outside of Paris in a less expensive hotel where we could have train access to the city.

Recommendations appreciated.

I responded on your other thread. The savings on the hotel you will likely lose in the time and money wasted in transit into paris. It's so much better to be able to walk to sites and restaurants and soak up the atmosphere of Paris!

If you want a nice cheap hotel try here http://www.cosmos-hotel-paris.com/fr,1,6436.html it is where we always stay.

We just trained to Paris from Munich. It's possible to find a good deal. If not, I still think it's worth it to stay IN the city. I say take the train.

If I'm following your various threads correctly, you only have two days in Paris (!!), so don't stay outside the city and waste time getting in and out. There are plenty of affordable options right in the city. And just how expensive is the train ride, and have you done you research on getting the best cheap fares?

Unless you are driving back to Germany, there are stiff cross-border drop-off fees on rentals.

Use www.viamichelin.com to estimate travel costs on top of the rental. Parking may be free on the outskirts of the city, but you still pay the daily rental. Take the train and enjoy the center of Paris.
