Itinerary Venice/Slovenia/Croatia

Jump to last reply

The following is our itinerary and I realize that it probably covers more in 9 days than most people would take on, but my wife was adamant about seeing Lake Bled and Split and I wanted to see Dubrovnik and Istria..
9/17/09 Thu - fly into Venice 10:00 AM, pick up car and drive to Lake Bled, lodging at Lake Bled Thu & Fri night.
Sat. - Drive to Plitvic Park and lodging there Sat. night
Sun. Drive to Split and lodging there Sun night
Monday - Drive to Dubrovnik lodging Monday and Tuesday night
Wednesday - Either take day trip to Montenegro and stay in Dubrovnik Wed night or take off back north to Istria
Thursday - Drive to Istria stay in hill towns Thursday and Friday nights.
Saturday - Drive to Venice airport and drop off car and see a liitle of venice (we have been there 2x before)
Sunday - fly back to Chicago 8:00AM

My question is, do you think that we should skip Montenegro. Our car rental company will not let us take our car there and we would have to take a bus. I am wondering whether all the beautiful seashore sights in Croatia would make Montenegro unnecessary?
