It is ok the Campiello in Venice and The Ritz in Florence?

Hello:I am traveling with my sister and parents next november and I am starting to do my homework. I would like to know more about the hotel campiello(Venice) and The Ritz(Florence). It is our first time in Italy and the first trip together after 16 years!!! So I want everybody to be happy and comfortable. I checked their web pages and they look good to me but there is nothing like first hand information from one of their customers.
Thanks for any information you can give me, it will be a lot of help.
Yoly

We liked the 4-star Ritz, with a balcony overlooking the Arno very much. It's not located at the "thick" of things in the old town center. Laying a short distance from Santa Croce to the east, it's just at the corner of what one would classify as the old city center. To the Duomo, for instance, it would be an approximate 900 meter stroll. I would higly recommend it nevertheless.
Paulo

Thanks!!!, I thinks this is going to be our hotel. Have you been in Alessandria by any chance? We have to go there since our family immigrated from this area to Mexico and would be great to see the town. I am having a lot of trouble finding info on this place. I think We go tu Torino for 2 days and then go to Alessandria for 2 days (or one?).

Nope ... I've never been in Alessandria. Anyways, the Blue Guide Northern Italy says that most of its buildings date from the 18C-19C. The best of the city buildings is the Palazzo della Prefettura (1733) and the 14C-15C Santa Maria di Castello church appears to be interesting. In the neighborhoods there's a remarkable church in Bosco Marengo (Santa Croce, 1567) with Vasari paintings. In Tortona one may visit the Santa Maria Canale church and the Museo Civico. In Acqui Terme there should be a Romanesque cathedral, the church of San Pietro and the remains of a castle and Roman acqueduct. Casale Monferrato to the north appears to be the town with most sites (Duomo, the San Domenico, San Paolo and Santa Caterina churches, a bunch of fine Palazzi - Treville, Sannazzaro, Gozani di San Giorgio - a Synagogue, Civic Museum, a castle and a Municipal Theatre).

Paulo
