I'd like to rent a car from Split, drive to the Plitvice Lakes for a night and then onto Istria for 2 nights. To avoid the inter-country fee, I'd then like to surrender the car in Croatia and take a bus or ferry from Istria (likely Rovinj) to Slovenia (likely Piran or Koper). Any advice on how to do this? Thank you!

My choice, would be bus to Trieste from Rovinj. Bus from Trieste to Piran or Koper is a regular service.
What company would provide that bus? Also, why go further north? Thanks!
Bus company, Rovinj to Trieste is Brioni. More than one bus company, Trieste to Slovenia.
No good connections direct from Rovinj to where you want to get to.
Thanks! Do you know anything about a ferry from Rovinj to Piran?
There may be a seasonal service 2010 but based on past experience, only a day or two in the week. There may also be a seasonal bus service but this won't be known for some time. Send an Email to www.tzgrovinj.hr for more information.
Thanks LittleVicky - you've been very helpful!
