It looks like the Avis prices are less than the autoeurope prices for the same car. Is there any reason not to go directly through Avis?

Before I started exclusively renting from AutoEurope in about 1990, I rented directly with Budget once. They charged me $$$ for fuel after I returned the car. I wrote/called them in France & sent my gas receipt. Their only rely was "gas is expensive in Europe". I kept writing/calling (my wife speaks French - do you speak Portugese?) and they kept non-responding. I have had many such "problems" with Europcar/Hertz/Avis since then - and AutoEurope has always resolved them in my favor.

Hi L,
>It looks like the Avis prices are less than the autoeurope prices for the same car.<
Is that the final price or the first one you see before they add the taxes and fees?
As noted, AE and also www.kemwell.com will meet any legitimate offer.

Kemwel & AutoEurope are sister companies, each with their own in-country rental agreements, which can be confusing at times, but as someone who is very familiar with both, all you have to do is call them to work out a deal if you need a car not listed on one site, but on the other, or not listed at all. We've had cars transferred from Biarritz to Pau and from Barcelona to San Sebastian-Donostia at no charge so that we could have car we wanted.
Avis is fine in the States, but can be a problem in Europe and it's the same with Hertz, regardless of your standing with either company at home.
We've been using AE and Kemwel since the early 80s and wouldn't use anyone else except for Europcar.
